Karen Edwards

CEO, SoapAI Co.
Co-Founder, Soap Public Media

Karen co-founded Soap, an AI platform designed from the start as an antidote to misinformation. As a public service, Soap powers apps that present the 7-most talked about news issues from 7 perspectives, with no fake sources, ads or personal data collection.  For Soap’s technology customers, Soap generates real-time programming for social media channels.

Karen has enjoyed a fascinating career in media and marketing. She co-founded Common Sense Media, the #1 media and family organization serving over 100MM users, and 105,000 schools. In 1995, she cold-called a start-up with 10 employees—Yahoo—and served as the head of marketing for 6 years. She was a key force in building Yahoo as one of the fastest-growing global brands ever,  from the iconic "Do You Yahoo?" advertising,  to overseeing her team marketing Yahoo worldwide.  Prior to Yahoo, Karen led a $180MM division of 20th Century Fox. She began her career in advertising for Apple, and as a journalist. Today, she serves on the board of KQED and the Institute for the Future. She is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Stanford.
