Out of the Box Perfect Speech Recognition
Here's a signal on the future of conversational interfaces.
I'm creating this blog by speaking into my iPhone. My words are simply being transcribed into text using a cool free iPhone speech dictation program called Dragon Dictation.
I suppose that composing thoughts this way will take some getting used to. It's amazing that the text is coming out perfectly nearly every time, maybe because I am intentionality speaking slowly and I must be speaking nearly generic English, easiest for the Dragon recognizer. People who speak with regional dialects or accents may not achieve the same accuracy in their transcriptions.
For now, the Dragon service works only while online. Google has similar speech to text capabilities for Android phones integrated across applications like search, e-mail, and maps.
This capability will seem trivial to kids in the future, but it it's astounding to me!
Okay that's enough for now. I'll cut and paste this article into the blog here.
The program is called Dragon Dictation and is free in the iPhone
app store. Here's the URL for more Dragon Dictation info: www.dragonmobileapps.com
