Real Food Real Stories with Nikiko Masumoto

 

 

IFTF Future for Good Fellow Nikiko Masumoto first learned to love food as a young child slurping the nectar of overripe organic peaches on the Masumoto Family Farm. Since then, she has never missed a harvest. Today she is a farmer, artist, and leader working alongside her father to raise organic peaches, nectarines, and grapes and add another generation’s voice to the story of the Masumoto Family Farm in California’s Central Valley.

On September 28, join Real Food Real Stories and IFTF’s Food Futures Lab and Future for Good program at our Gallery for the Future in Palo Alto for an evening of stories about farming, food, art, and community.

Why we need more stories about the future of food

The story of the future of food is evolving, and we need as many people as possible actively imagining and telling their stories to shape this future. Stories about the future of food have the potential to reveal new worlds of possibility and help us imagine futures that are radically different from today. My colleague Jamais Cascio, a masterful scenario writer, reminds us, “We shape tomorrow through the choices we make today. Or to flip that around, we can make better decisions now if we consider the different ways in which these decisions may play out.” One way to get better at this is by telling more stories about the future.

We are excited about this opportunity to share Nikiko's story and gather around a shared meal to build a community of people working toward a healthy, regenerative future of food.
