Mobile clinical assistants
Motion Computing, a provider of mobile computing and wireless communications has announced that Canada-based telecommunications provider TELUS is now reselling its C5 mobile clinical assistant (MCA) to enhance its healthcare offering.
As per the partnership, TELUS will offer a full suite of wireless access and software services through the Motion C5. This latest agreement demonstrates a commitment by both organizations to provide next-generation solutions to Canada-based healthcare organizations.
“We are thrilled to be working closely with TELUS and are confident that the C5 will help deliver a complete solution that extends the point of patient care to where clinicians need it the most, at the patient point of care, whether at home, in a hospital or regional clinic,” said Mike Stinson, vice president of marketing at Motion.
The running of Motion C5s on TELUS’ national wireless communications network will allow healthcare providers to access “mission-critical” patient information such as medical history, care plans, prescribed medications and digital images associated with patient records.
The C5 is a mobile device with an “easy-to-use” interface that supports multiple functions. These functions include handwriting and speech input, the integration of key wireless and data-capture and image-acquisition technologies.
Additional functions supported by C5 are an optional barcode scanner, RFID reader, and digital camera, all f which ease clinician workloads and enhance productivity.
“By offering Motion tablets to an extended network of healthcare providers, TELUS is taking the power of information beyond the walls of the hospital and putting it into the hands of clinicians wherever they may be providing care,” said Barry Rivelis, vice president of Healthcare at TELUS.
He expects that the tablets will help improve the patient experience by reducing the amount of time health practitioners are spending on paperwork so they have more time to tend to patients.
