Meet the Inaugural "Future for Good" Fellows!
IFTF is proud to welcome six global thinkers for our first Future for Good Fellowship Program, a four-month partnership to bring together futures thinking and each fellow’s vision for the future. The 2013 cohort of Fellows will bring a diverse set of backgrounds and entrepreneurial sensibility to the urgent futures we all face today.
Milton Chen, Senior Fellow and Executive Director Emeritus at Edutopia, is innovating in education
Gabriella Gómez-Mont, Director of Laboratorio para la Ciudad, Mexico’s creative think tank and experimental space, is re-imagining the future of Mexico City
Sam Gregory, an internationally recognized human rights advocate, trainer and video producer and Program Director at Witness, is examining immersive witnessing of human rights violations and activism
Shannon Spanhake, Deputy Innovation Officer for the City and County of San Francisco, is leading experiments in the culture of innovation
David Thigpen, Vice President of the Insight Center, with a long history of leadership in Chicago’s urban development community, is researching the great cities of tomorrow
Ariel Waldman, founder of Spacehack, global instigator of Science Hack Day, and advisor to the National Academy of Sciences on the future of human space flight, is prototyping a book on hacking science and space exploration
This inaugural group of fellows was selected because of their passion for building positive futures, their vision for alternative solutions to today’s big problems, and their initiative in making change happen.
Future for Good Festival
Our vision for the Future for Good Program is ambitious: support the launch of catalytic projects to shape a desirable future. The 2013 initiative will culminate with the Future for Good Festival on October 4, 2013. This gathering will engage a broader public in the urgent futures our fellows imagine and the innovations they are committed to making a reality. The Festival will inspire all of us to become practical visionaries, to join in the project of creating a future for good.
