Maker City Playbook Launches
We are happy to announce the release of "From Maker Cities to Open Cities: How the Maker Mindset & Technology are Reinventing Urban Life," Chapter 9 in the Maker City Playbook: A practical guide to reinvention in American cities in conjunction with the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy and the 2016 National Week of Making (June 17 - June 23).
The Maker City Playbook is a project funded by the Kauffman Foundation with support from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Institute for the Future. Authored by Peter Hirshberg, Dale Dougherty, and Marcia Kadanoff with IFTF's Rod Falcon, the book is designed to help cities understand the Maker movement and the impact it is having on economic opportunity: ecosystem development, education, advanced manufacturing, workforce development, and real estate. The team interviewed 50 Makers in more than 20 cities across the United States to get a comprehensive view of how Makers are changing our cities for the better, creating the next wave of economic opportunity.
This sneak peak consists of a sample chapter from the full Playbook, expected mid-summer 2016, which includes forecasts from our map, Open Cities: How the maker mindset & technology are reinventing urban life.
