KnowledgeWorks & IFTF Present 2020 Forecast: Creating the Future of Learning
We are proud to present the latest collaboration between KnowledgeWorks Foundation and Institute for the future. 2020 Forecast: Creating the Future of Learning!
Learning in Transition
In today’s world of abundant information and rapidly evolving technology, knowledge is everywhere and accessible whenever we want, wherever we are. This environment changes not only how we do things, but also how we access and analyze information. There is a need for students to learn how to create and innovate, and do so rapidly. The demand for constant adaptation has a profound impact on education as a whole.
We are moving from a world of schooling to a world of learning. Our burgeoning culture of creation enables us to truly make our future. We have yet to determine the role of educational institutions in this future, but one thing is certain: like students themselves, institutions will need to learn how to adapt and innovate.
Our Map
In creating this map, IFTF looked at the key forces that will shape learning over the next decade. From educitizens and democratized manufacturing to neuroscience and open infrastructures, a complex knowledge ecosystem will replace traditional education as we’ve come to know it. We outline the major drivers, signals, and trends creating this future, as well as new educational roles that we’ve dubbed “learning agents.” They will help to shape the future of learning by contributing to the expansion and redefinition of the education profession and its relationships to, and roles in, community life.
