Ken Banks -- FrontlineSMS
FrontlineSMS is a text messaging system that has been used in east Africa to connect remote hospitals with community health workers who are spread throughout villages in the region. You can read about one such effort here. It has also been used to report and monitor avian flu outbreaks.
FrontlineSMS was developed by Ken Banks, who was an organizer of the Texting4Health conference. Hei s the founder of kiwanja.net, which specialising in the application of mobile technology in the non-profit sector, particularly in the developing world. He is a Collaboration Fellow at Stanford's Digital Vision Program (bio#2).
