Our experience of personal technologies is undergoing a phase shift as the human body becomes the new frontier of technology adoption. As we begin placing computing power in, on, and around the body, it will transform how we work, connect, experience fun and even shape our own sense of identity.

On October 21-22, IFTF’s Technology Horizons Program will host its fall conference—The New Body Language: the Future of Wearables, Wireless, and Body Area Networks. The event will feature deep dives into entertainment, work, fashion and other topics, and leading speakers including:

with Jane McGonigal

Join us Tuesday, October 20 at 6pm for a pre-conference talk from New York Times bestselling author and renowned game developer Jane McGonigal, who will be sharing snapshots of her new book, SuperBetter: A Revolutionary Approach to Getting Stronger, Happier, Braver, and More Resilient—Powered by the Science of Games. Based on her own experience designing a game to help her recover from a concussion—and years of research in which more than 400,000 people played the game—Jane will explore what we can learn and gain by applying a gameful mindset to the toughest challenges we face.

Body Area Networks—A Generational Shift

Join us Wednesday, October 21 at 6pm for this thought-provoking evening conversation with IFTF Distinguished Fellow Jamais Cascio exploring the next decade of body area networks, which will involve incredible experimentation and innovation and create a generational shift in our relationships with machines. Jamais will share three scenarios set a generation ahead to highlight different possibilities for how we will use body area networks when they are a mature—and invisible—part of our lives.
