HC2020 Fall Conference Keynote Speakers announced
The Health Horizons Program is pleased to announce its keynote speakers for the upcoming Health and Health Care 2020 Fall Conference. As leaders in their fields, Mike Merzenich, Jane McGonigal, and Thomas Goetz will provide our attendees with fresh insights into emerging trends in neuroscience, gaming and the engagement economy, and personalized medicine.
- Renowned neuroscientist Mike Merzenich is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Posit Science. Dr. Merzenich, a pioneer in brain plasticity research, now applies his expertise to the development of such products as Brain Fitness and Drive Sharp. He will share with us his thoughts on how plasticity-based therapies will be used in the future to treat a wide spectrum of cognitive problems.
- Jane McGonigal, Director of Game Research and Development at Institute for the Future, will discuss ways of engaging people in their own health care. She will present a new, very personal, case study of how a difficult health situation can be improved by using a multi-player game to provide a fresh way of looking at the problem.
- Thomas Goetz, executive editor of WIRED Magazine, writes frequently on the confluence of medicine, health and technology. His cover stories at WIRED have covered the early detection of cancer, the advent of personal genomics, and the controversial diagnosis of metabolic syndrome. Thomas is also the author of the Decision Tree blog and the forthcoming book, The Decision Tree: Taking Control of Your Health in the New Era of Personalized Medicine, to be published by Rodale in February 2010.
