Close It 2018: Future Meets Now
Institute for the Future and Innovate+Educate are Joining Forces to Produce Leading Future of Employment Tech Summit in US
On Oct 16-17 Institute for the Future and Innovate+Educate will be hosting Close It 2018: Future Meets Now. This action-packed conference will bring together experts in the fields of education, tech, and business to explore the skills and systems needed to help workers succeed in the rapidly-changing economy.
With the advent of the gig economy, online platforms and other technology-driven shifts in the workplace, the nature of work is changing dramatically—but services and solutions to help workers adapt are not keeping pace. IFTF has partnered with Innovate+Educate to convene thought leaders to research these issues, prototype new services and solutions, and build the awareness that we need to make changes now—to ensure people are prepared for the coming world of work.
During the conference, Institute for the Future will use its deep history and research in this space to help build a future-facing conversation to advance solutions in four key areas:
- Future Skills: What are the tools and skills we will need to live richer and more fulfilling lives in a society that is undergoing unprecedented change?
- Equitable Futures: Beyond just jobs and capitol, what are the new kinds of “universal basic assets” that are needed to create a future of shared prosperity?
- Beyond Organizations—New models for getting things done: How will new ways of working change the pace of business and innovation, and empower our organizations to be more diverse, dynamic and distributed?
- Trust in a World of Shifting Authorities, Credentials & Assessment: Our society uses the college degree as a proxy for trust. Will digital badges and alternative credentials ever carry the same weight? Do we still need to test, test, and re-test?
Although IFTF’s research on Trust is not yet public, learn more about the developing future of Higher Education in California in Putting California’s Working Learners at the Center.
