Things aren't looking good for the one spark of innovation in the mobile web of late - mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs). As "virtual carriers" leasing network access from the big cellular operators, MVNOs thought that savvy niche marketing and value-added data services would allow them to poach enough subscribers to establish themselves. But it seem that the value-adds weren't enough, and the competition wasn't really competition.
