69 Design Ideas For Our Future Health
.
Design ideas are pouring in. People from over 15 countries around the world have entered BodyShock. Themes range from novel visualizations and behavior change games to accessible future technologies and enhanced social networks. Who will win?
IFTF's BodyShock is the first annual competition with an urgent challenge to recruit crowdsourced designs and solutions for better health—to remake the future by rebooting the present.
Here are some of the 69 ideas entered so far, in no particular order:
- Emergency Augmented Reality display that allows you to look through your mobile phone's camera view and locate the nearest automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) located in a public place.
- A way to improve oral hygiene (particularly in children) by developing nanoscale, digestible piezoelectric motors combined in chewing gum.
- A pathogen-sensing refrigerator that determines the approximate location of the contaminated food in the refrigerator by triangulation using multiple sensors placed at different locations in the refrigerator.
- Internet connected smart shoes paired with augmented reality glasses to provide a more fulfilling and fun running experience.
- A Recovery Project to organize people's personal narratives of recovery so that they can be best learned from by others.
- Strategic placement of simple grey water collectors - along existing sanitary sewer junctions - to manage waste water and return a safe, non-potable water source for irrigation.
- Immediate reagent tests for antibiotic resistance in any infection, required to be used on site, at prescription.
- A world-wide online fitness community that lets players compete against one another in all kind of games, as well as track individual fitness progress.
