As IFTF's Executive Producer, Jean is the creative lead for IFTF. For more than a decade, she has overseen the translation of research ideas into visual media of all kinds such as maps, books, artifacts of the future, digital stories, immersive videos, games, the IFTF web face and live meeting experiences. With an educational background in creative writing, journalism, and graphic design, and a professional background in advertising, marketing, public relations, and branding, she bridges the many communities that make IFTF a highly creative organization, including our clients and sponsors, our research staff, our internal design studio, a wide network of creative affiliates and fellow travelers, and the public media. Jean is skilled in mobilizing networks to engage with IFTF in everything from games to topical summits. She also manages our ongoing media and press relationships ranging from releases to gatherings to local civic activities.
In a highly creative research organization like IFTF, the role of executive producer extends beyond the production of media and events to the strategic management of our operations. From the collaborative oversight of IFTF’s spaces to the coordination of projects and programs across IFTF, Jean provides executive leadership in the day-to-day health of the organization. Jean is a member of IFTF’s Lead Team and currently serves as a member on our Board of Directors. She studied Journalism at St. Mary's College and has a BS in Design from the San Jose State School of Art & Design. Her professional career began in San Francisco for the small boutique ad firm, Gauger & Silva, Inc., and during the subsequent Internet boom she directed a variety of design, marketing and communications groups for both small tech start-ups such as I/PRO and Fabrik Communications, as well as large technology companies such as Softbank and Oracle.
