Lir Wang
Research Manager
Lir joined IFTF as a Research Manager in September 2021. She is a passionate advocate for a future of DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) and sustainability, and believes that solid research points at the path to that future. She specializes in organizational research in a globalized world and has done research on related topics such as the global connections of nonprofit organizations and the impact of grassroot organizations on gender equality achievements across the globe.
Prior to Institute for the Future, Lir worked as an evaluator that helped nonprofit organizations improve their practices, achieve program goals, and increase client satisfaction with customized assessment and research projects. She has worked with a variety of social service programs in the areas of veteran services, homeless reduction, substance abuse, equity in education, etc.
Being a first-generation immigrant from Taiwan, Lir is constantly immersed in multiple cultures and values cultural sensitivity. Having lived in Taiwan, France and The U.S., she has great appreciation for the insights and conversation among different worldviews and perspectives. Lir earned her dual B.A. in Law and Sociology from National Taiwan University, M.A. in Demographic and Social Analysis from UC Irvine, and Doctorate in Sociology from UC Irvine. She is a native Mandarin (Chinese) speaker and can converse and read in French.
