What is the Future of Health and Health Care? You Tell Us
As part of our year-long look at the future of health and health care, IFTF has launched a new website, HC2020 that offers four alternative scenario videos depicting distinct, plausible directions of change over the next decade. These four stories are designed to push us to think beyond our traditional models of the future—and instead encourage us to examine a broader set of possibilities. Now, we'd like to know what you think.
You can watch the four scenario videos—growth, discipline, collapse, and transformation—at the HC2020 site, and share your thoughts. Do you see elements of one of these futures happening around you? Are you and your colleagues working hard to make something you see here a reality—or to avoid some threat?
Submit your thoughts on what you're seeing out there, and what you're doing to make the future of health and health care. Don't limit yourself to posting your thoughts to the HC2020 site. Get the reactions of your friends and colleagues by blogging, tweeting and sharing the HC2020 site and use those reactions to develop further insights into the long-term developments in health and health care in the United States.
Set in 2020, the four scenarios tell stories of how individuals experience health and health care in these alternative worlds. In looking at these four corners of possibility, you can identify threats, opportunities, challenges and responses that are less readily apparent and begin to act today to prepare for these threats and opportunities. We encourage you to not play favorites: Work with these worlds as they are and use them to think through the possibilities of what may happen in the coming decade.
