What do you think might help accelerate change in health and health care?
This is the question that the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Pioneer Portfolio is currently asking online and at this year's TEDMED conference, which started today. You are invited to download and print the file, fill in your answer in the space provided, then take a photo of yourself holding the bubble and post it to Flickr. You can also tweet your response with the tag #ideapowered. Pioneer will be sharing ideas via PioneerIdeaPowered.com during the week of October 25-29.
Perhaps not coincidently, this question reminds me of one that we asked people to consider earlier this month, and will again on November 9th-10th: what would you do to accelerate the pace of medical research? It's part of a real-time online "idea sourcing" event called Breakthroughs To Cures, a project funded by the Pioneer Portfolio (coincidence?) and spearheaded by the Myelin Repair Foundation (MRF). (MRF is a non-profit medical research foundation known for its pioneering Accelerated Research Collaboration™ (ARC™) model.)
This gaming event, developed by my colleague, Jane McGonigal, is designed to engage university scientists, business leaders, healthcare innovators, biopharma executives and R&D professionals, government regulators, entrepreneurs from all walks of life, patients and the general public, in conversations about the barriers that are slowing the pace of medical research and the strategies that may break down these barriers. During the first round of play, hundreds of people generated ideas in response to this challenge; please join us on November 9th to contribute yours!
