The Green Health Movement for Earth Day 2011
Air pollution and asthma, climate change and natural disasters, drought and crop failures, wasteful practices and water shortages. Human health is directly tied to our planet's health and Institute for the Future research shows that the public is starting to understand this. People are organizing to make these connections clear in what we call the "Green Health" movement and we believe it will define the next chapter in the global health web. In celebration of Earth Day, we have been asked to reflect on our 2009 research, "Green Health: Connecting the Natural, the Ecological, and the Healthy," a forecast that breaks down the many connections between our health and the planet—and explains how these connections will affect the future.
You can learn more about "Green Health" at Earth Day at Los Angeles City Hall where IFTF's Rod Falcon will be addressing the Los Angeles City Council on April 21st. Councilwoman Jan Perry, the Southern California community, and business leaders in Council Chambers and the Solomon Leadership Foundation are hosting a free screening of "Why Study Green Health?", a video forum that examines the linkage between personal health, the environment, ecology, and sustainability. Rod will also be speaking about IFTF and our Future of California project at the event. For more information, click here.
