New Paths out of Poverty | 25 Future Zones of Innovation
Back in 2010 we started a long journey to uncover new paths out of poverty with the Rockefeller Foundation, their Searchlight Partners, and a global community of concerned citizens.
We began by creating a map framing new paths out of poverty written about in the Searchlight Partners’ monthly development newsletters.
In the next phase we ran a foresight engine game to bring the wider global community into the conversation about global poverty alleviation. We had 1,600 registered players from 79 countries join the conversation. Players submitted 18,000 ideas within 48 hours.
Finally we analyzed all 18,000 ideas from the game in order to uncover new zones of innovation, new paths out of poverty. Ultimately, all your ideas revealed 25 Future Zones of Innovation.
These Zones have now been made public. You can find all 25 Zones here. But let’s not stop there! Every week for the rest of the year (and yes, 25 weeks takes us right to the end of the year!) I’ll take a fresh look at one of the Zones of Innovation, highlighting new signals and developments within that space.
I’d love for this to be part of a wider conversation about what works and doesn’t work when we attempt to build new paths out of poverty. Please don’t hesitate to send any ideas or comments my way so I can add them to our discussion.
Join the debate!
This post is from Catalysts for Change, a journey we undertook to uncover new paths out of poverty with the Rockefeller Foundation, their Searchlight Partners, and a global community of concerned citizens. We analyzed 18,000 ideas from a global participatory game on our Foresight Engine platform, to uncover 25 new zones of innovation--new paths out of poverty. In the coming weeks, look for more about the innovation zones and opportunities they present to make the future.
