As part of Shenzhen Makers@World, an international innovators exchange program, join us for a dive into what’s happening in Shenzhen, with 11 legends and upcoming rockstar Shenzhen Makers, on March 2nd at TechCode incubator in Mountain View. If you’re a maker, a manufacturer, or an entrepreneur who wants to make ties to Shenzhen, you can’t miss this opportunity to meet this group of Chinese pioneers - from wearables entrepreneurs to artists, open-source electric vehicle makers to 3d printing and hardware manufacturing gurus.
Shenzhen Makers@World is an international exchange program of makers sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office of Shenzhen city government and Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation. The program aims to connect Shenzhen entrepreneurs and creative innovators with their counterparts in the San Francisco Bay Area, in order to build international maker networks and share the latest trends in IoT development and industrial design across both sides of the Pacific. The first batch of 10 makers from the program will visit Silicon Valley in February 2016.
The event is free and open to the public with registration.

2016: State of the Shenzhen Open Innovation Ecosystem
David Li
Founder of China's first hackerspace Xinchejian and Director, Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab
David will share his experiences as a Maker, hardware evangelist, and bridge-builder between Western and Chinese manufacturers and entrepreneurs. David Li has been contributing to open source since 1990. He is member of Free Software Foundation, committer to Apache projects and board director of ObjectWeb. Over the past 20 years, David has started several open source software projects and contributed to many others. In 2010, he co-founded XinCheJian, the first hackerspace in China to promote hacker/maker culture and open source hardware. He also developed Ardublock, the most popular visual programming environment for Arduino. In the past two years, he has become interested in urban farming and is an enthusiastic proponent of aquaponics, which brings the spirit of open source to farming and gardening. In 2011, he co-founded Hacked Matter, with Anna Greenspan and Silvia Lindtner. In 2015, he started a new project called Maker Collider, in collaboration with Intel, with the goal to promote mass hackerspaces in the field of education and in the public sector.

Previous: Open source 3D printing project research in order to lower the cost of prototyping by 3D printing applications.
