Jane McGonigal heads to EduTECH 2016
The future is already different in Australia
Jane McGonigal, author of games and books like Reality Is Broken and SuperBetter and Director of Game Research and Development at IFTF, is off to Australia to keynote EduTECH 2016—the largest education conference in the southern hemisphere, packed with more than 8,000 attendees and 230 speakers.
At 4pm on May 31 in Brisbane, AU (11pm on May 30 back at IFTF in Palo Alto, CA!), Jane will address The Power of a Gameful Mindset—a way of tackling tough challenges with more optimism, determination, resilience, and creativity—and how to build a bridge between the way students learn and tackle tough challenges in games and how they approach learning and problem-solving in the classroom.
At the same time Jane will reopen Learning is Earning 2026, the online game to imagine the future of learning, working, and living. Originally played in conjunction with SXSWedu 2016, highlighted in Jane's keynote and sponsored by ACT Foundation, Learning is Earning 2026 invites players to imagine and share their ideas about the future of learning in 2026.
Reopening Learning is Earning 2026 allows us to continue the conversation with working learners from diverse backgrounds and, together, imagine a future where young people are able to earn a living while navigating their own, customized learning experiences and sacrifice neither. Engaging with the international audience at EduTECH 2016 allows us to collectively address global equity issues of poverty, opportunity, and skill gaps. ACTF and IFTF are excited to work together to progress the learning is earning dialog.
