IFTF hosts idea exchange for World Entrepreneurship Day
Last Thursday evening, IFTF hosted a networking and idea exchange event in preparation for World Entrepreneurship Day (WED). The organization responsible for catalyzing WED was born at Arizona State University, and they are currently traveling around the United States to stoke excitement about World Entrepreneurship Day 2010 (April 16th).
"World Entrepreneurship Day (WED) is a 24 hour world-wide celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation. The mission of WED is to infuse entrepreneurial optimism into the world when it needs it the most! Because entrepreneurs will lead us back into economic prosperity and growth through innovation and entrepreneurship, we are enrolling individuals, high schools, universities, corporations and entrepreneurial organizations to organize activities and events to spur innovation and entrepreneurship..."
At the event, WED gave their backstory and facilitated a brainstorm of how Silicon Valley could celebrate WED 2010, such as hosted educational events for high schoolers or start-up mixers. The valley is a rare environment of innovation, with lots of potential to do something high impact, and the excitement in the room was high. Register for the event to contribute ideas and start your own planning!
The event was catered by an innovative start-up wine company, the20. Instead of bottling wine, they take directly from the barrels into high-capacity portable serving containers, perfect for catering and serving at restaurants. It reduces waste by dispensing with bottles and it helps connect small wineries with restaurants and wine lovers.
