IFTF hosts first Ubiquitous Media Studio meetup
On Thursday, July 22, IFTF's Director of Technology Horizons, Lyn Jeffery hosted the first Ubiquitous Media Studio (@ubistudio) mini-workshop and meetup. The Ubiquitous Media Studio is conceived as an open network of artists, technologists, experience designers, and fellow enthusiasts centered on the question: "If the world is our platform, then what is our creative medium?" Clues to the answer can be found in the confluence of augmented reality, ubicomp, transmedia, physical computing, and social/contextual media in the blended physical/digital world of people, places, and things.
Ubistudio's approach is a hands-on, playful experience of learning how to use a variety of emerging design tools and applying them in creative projects. The inaugural workshop will include an introduction to creating mobile AR channels in Junaio—friends from augmented reality pioneer Metaio will walk through how to create simple, mobile AR experiences for the iPhone and Android phones.
