Health: HIV/AIDS Will Significantly Damage Regional Economies
"Almost 25 years after the CDC declared AIDS and epidemic, the disease continutes to plague the populations of many developing countries. The hardest hit region is sub-Saharan Africa, where HIV is present in 9 of the total population and as much as 20% in several countries. But other countries in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean also report high prevelance of HIV, and its continuing spread will limit growth of developign regional economies by reducing the size of the workforce, consuming resources, and weakening response to future epidemics.
