#FQuOTD #1: Your awesome replies, and announcing our 2nd FQuOTD!
Thanks to everyone who re-tweeted and answered IFTF's 1st #FQuOTD! (Future Question of the Day). Keep reading to see the replies and the winner of today's award.
But let's announce the second #FQuOTD: Tweet your weekend plans as you might on July 9/10, 2016. Think about where you'll be—in life and geographically, who you'll be with, what new things you'll be getting up to, how you'll move around differently, how the world has changed, or anything else that comes to mind.
Tweet as many plans as you can think of, just remember to include the #FQuOTD hashtag. Answers posted on Monday morning July 13 (2009!)
Our first #FQuOTD was: How was your future changed this year? Now, this has been one volatile and uncertain year for pretty much everyone. We noticed a back-to-the-future theme, as people revisit and revise their previous scenarios for what the future would be...
@Kerrick is changing careers and going back to school to be "in debt probably forever". @PG is also career switching, getting back to his professional start and "feeling half my age." @Wdonohue notes e-books hitting "take-off speed" this year and connects this with a present-day need to "hone production skills for future job prospects." @NickBrenn also used this year to lay a groundwork for the future, developing "a new line of kits named "Elektronikits" ".
@Changeist connected the uncertainty of the future to new perspectives on today, noting "new opportunities to help others, see new dimensions of old problems." @mrettig gave us a 3 part answer (in 140 characters!), calling the future "more socially-constructed" and suggesting a tipping point, when the future became "essential to how I define myself" in contrast to the past. @Tasjimi also forecast a more social future upon "realisation of global connectivity and possibilities."
We'd like to give today's Fountain of Youth Award to...@PG, for using the last year to head back towards a future of feeling young. Thanks to everyone for your thoughtfully insightful and fun answers.
Also big thanks to @Changeist, @wsjandy, @frankspencer, @kerrick, and @krinhoh for re-tweeting #FQuoTD #1.
