Economics: The Global Economy Will Adapt to an Aging Workforce
"The advanced economies of the world are facing a demographic crisis. As human life spans lengthen and birth rates decline, the ratio of workers to dependents will fall and the average worker will have to support--via government programs--more elderly dependents.
This demographic trend will create an increasing drain on the economy, driving a variety of policy solutions that range from immigration and globalization to technological fixes and delayed retirement ages. Each region will develop a distinctive mix of these remedies.
