David Weinberger on the future of social software
"David Weinberger is author of Small Pieces, Loosely Joined, and co-author of the Cluetrain Manifesto. He is a contributor to the Many-to-Many group weblog. Here is his answer to the question I recently posed on the future of social software:
I think most software will be social because apps are going to need the social to figure out what's relevant and what we want to do. Social knowledge is one of the ways to solve the scaling problem.
Tools for collaboration will be more prevalent, and some of them will continue to be usefully simple for the same reasons that email hasn't gotten much more complex in the past 15 yrs.
On the other hand, I've never been right.
