CCL Names Bob Johansen to Visiting Fellow Post
The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) has named IFTF Distinguished Fellow Bob Johansen as their H. Smith Richardson Jr. Visiting Fellow for 2016. This prestigious fellowship is a great honor for Bob, who teamed with CCL on the second edition of his groundbreaking book Leaders Make the Future: 10 New Leadership Skills for an Uncertain World.
CCL President and CEO John R. Ryan wrote the foreword for the book, which includes a CCL self-assessment and other original content.

During the upcoming year, Bob will be writing a new book on leadership in the next generation VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) future. In his role as Visiting Fellow, Bob will partner with CCL on a variety of initiatives focused on the future of leadership.

CCL Names Renowned Futurist Bob Johansen to Visiting Fellow Post
GREENSBORO, NC—JANUARY 2016—Bob Johansen, whose forecasting skills have helped some of the world’s most influential organizations thrive in rapidly changing times, 
will serve as the Center for Creative Leadership’s (CCL®) H. Smith Richardson Jr. Visiting Fellow in 2016.
Johansen currently serves as Distinguished Fellow at the Institute for the Future, a 48-year old Palo Alto, CA-based nonprofit research organization that he led as president from 1996 to 2004. With more than 35 years of experience in forecasting future trends, Johansen continues to write, speak and lead strategic workshops for top executives globally.
As the author or co-author of nine books, Johansen teamed with CCL on the second edition of his groundbreaking book Leaders Make the Future: 10 New Leadership Skills for an Uncertain World. CCL President and CEO John R. Ryan wrote the foreword for the book, which includes a CCL self-assessment and other original content.
“I’m focused on the ten-year future, seeking out and trying to understand the external forces that will be most disruptive to leaders,” Johansen says. “More importantly, I’m looking for early models of how leaders can thrive in this increasingly disruptive future.”
During his CCL fellowship, Johansen will be writing a new book on how next-generation leaders can thrive in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world. In his role as Visiting Fellow, Johansen will partner with CCL on a variety of initiatives focused on the future of leadership. Among them:
- Workshops with CCL faculty as his new book takes shape.
- A presentation for CCL’s board.
- Joint explorations of next generation leadership

As the new Visiting Fellow, Johansen fills the post created in honor of the late H. Smith Richardson Jr., whose family founded CCL and who chaired CCL’s governing board for more than 25 years.
