The Center for Emerging Worlds Presents:
Airpocalypse? Emerging Environmental Challenges in China’s Future
An evening with Lo Sze Ping, CEO of WWF China | Wednesday, February 10
China is the world’s factory, pumping out consumer goods to support the global economy. This has not only made China a world economic power, but also brought about unprecedented environmental degradation, both in the country and to the world. Severe air pollution in recent years has cast a gloomy shadow over China's prosperous cities and the future of their citizens. Millions have to breathe a hazardous cocktail of pollutants on a daily basis. On bad days, schools are shut down, cars restricted and outdoor activities discouraged.
Is this airpocalypse? Can we imagine new actions to turn the tide in the future? What might sustainable investing in China do to lessen these problems?
IFTF is pleased to co-sponsor an evening with Lo Sze Ping, presented by the Center for Emerging World's Sustainable Investment in China Speaker Series. Mr. Lo is an environmentalist with over 20 years of experience in campaigning and advocacy. He served as the CEO of World Wildlife Fund, China, led the development of Greenpeace in China as Campaign Director, and is Executive Chairman of the Board of Friends of Nature, the first green NGO in China. He has also participated in many United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COPs, including the latest in Paris in 2015.
