Berit Ashla
Vice President, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors
Berit Ashla is Vice President at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, a global organization that helps donors create thoughtful, effective, satisfying philanthropy. From San Francisco, Berit leads RPA’s West Coast-based advisory work. She brings a wealth of experience in sustainability, foundation governance, social justice and grantmaking.
Previously, Berit was the Executive Director of the David Brower Center, an innovative arts and sustainability center whose mission is to convene thought leaders in dialogues that inform effective civic engagement and policy decisions. Prior to leading the Brower Center, she was the Philanthropic Director of Foundation Source. She also served as Program Officer and Senior Advisor at Tides Foundation, leading donor engagement and program analysis activities. Earlier in her career, she worked at the Marin Community Foundation, KQED Public Television, and the United Nations Environment Program in Paris, France.
Berit has a B.A. from Amherst College and serves on the boards of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Abundance Foundation, and Nia Community Fund. In previous years, Berit served on the board of Ecole Biligue de Berkeley (the French American School of Berkeley) and the Schott Foundation for Public Education. She lives in Berkeley, CA with her husband and their two teenage sons. Her interests include hiking, arts, culture and civic engagement.
